This Docklands show home was located in the trendy Docklands area of London, aimed at young professionals looking to make the city their home. It was a stunning location in what used to be the world’s largest port. The show home had a high end finish and plenty of open plan space.
The Layout
The apartment was a two bedroom duplex flat, with an open plan living room/dining area. The kitchen is spacious with built in appliances, with a smart grey finish and tiled floor. The two bedrooms are large, with floor to ceiling windows that let in lots of natural light. Wooden floorboards were used throughout the whole property, when combined with the location gave the apartment a modern, urban feel.
The Brief
Because of the unique location of this apartment, the client’s wanted the decor to be in keeping with the urban feel of the development. As it was to be aimed at young professionals, the interior needed to be clean and modern, without being too traditional.
The Interior Design
We paid homage to the history of this unique location by combining nautical decor with rustic elements. Reclaimed and salvaged pieces took centre stage, including antiqued furniture, distressed clocks and a pair of beautiful wooden oars as statement wall art. The colour palette was neutral, which let in lots of beautiful natural light, helping to keep the space open. We used wooden board and brick effect feature wallpaper to add that finishing touch, tying all the reclaimed and urban elements together.
