For this romantic show home, we made our way down to Hastings, on the south coast of England. Our client had a development of 2 bedroom houses set in a semi-rural area, marketed towards young families. With an elegant and traditional design brief, it didn’t take long for these properties to sell.
The two bedroom houses included a large open plan living room/dining area, which included patio doors out onto the garden. The spacious rooms let in plenty of natural light, with high ceilings contributing to this. The two bedrooms were double rooms, and were generously proportioned too.
As the properties were targeted towards young professional families, the client wanted the interior design to be elegant yet modern, with a clean and classical finish. The colour scheme should be light and airy, with subtle colours that aren’t too vibrant or garish. The client thought a blue colour scheme would work well due to the coastal location of the development.
The Interior Design
We used a colour palette of greys, creams and off whites, highlighted with soft blue tones. This was to enhance all that lovely natural light and keep it clean and modern. Mirrored furniture and crystal light fittings added an elegant touch. The light blues were carried throughout the interior on soft furnishings such as curtains, bedding and cushions. Crushed velvet sofas gave a romantic but modern finish to the living room, and we kept the wall art clean with simple landscapes. Throughout the property, the interior design gave an elegance coupled with modernity.
